lostdollsclub: “Killing Bali Softly?” My Balinese friend posted this picture on facebook today, with the caption above. It reminded me of part of my visit to Bali, nine years ago. She pointed out the plastic discarded on the beaches and down the bank beside the road, tumbling down among the forest trees. We don’t expect to see rubbish accumulating in paradise, so it is somehow more shocking than when we come across it down a gap in a car park, or mixed up with fallen leaves in the park, here in our cities, where it’s just part of the scenery. This image should be a reminder to all of us, wherever we live. We will choke on our discarded folly if we don’t pay more attention.
