Swiss designer Michel Bussien has created these beautiful chair-shaped greenhouses to help foster the growth of trees into chairs, so that they can be brought straight from the soil into the living room once they’ve matured. Bussien uses fast-growing willow trees to form the chair’s supporting structure and a Russian vine to help keep the tree’s shape as it grows. A fully grown chair is then released from its greenhouse and cut at its anklets just above the soil for transplant into the home.See more stunning examples of living furniture.

DIY Recycled CD Case Greenhouse Tutorial by Meg at  Mega Crafty from So You Think You’re Crafty here. *One image download. This project takes 40+ CD cases and the author writes:

“I’m going to tell you up front- this tutorial is pretty long. But don’t get scared off… the greenhouse really isn’t difficult to make. …The toughest part about the whole project is cutting the cases into angles- and even that’s not really hard to do, it just takes some patience. The rest of the project is just gluing!”

If we colonize Mars, we should definitely bring Le Petit Prince along. This robotic greenhouse carries a plant and provides it with everything it needs to flourish on the red planet. It’s designed to learn the optimal process of searching for nutrients, and it can send reports to fellow robots, enabling them to learn from one another.
