Whoa! Ford to unveil exciting new solar car
The C-MAX Solar Energi should be able to make 75 percent of its trips on sun power.
Giant mirrors harness sunlight in Norway
Rjukan receives very little sunlight between September and March because it’s nestled at the bottom of a valley in the shadow of steep mountains. To give its residents a few more hours of daylight, the city erected three giant mirrors on an adjacent mountainside to reflect the sun’s glare back into the city’s shaded market square.
Using solar power, the high-tech mirrors are designed to follow the sun’s movements across the sky.
The roof is on fire: Do solar panels hinder firefighters?
Using a massive blaze at a PV-topped lunch meat warehouse in New Jersey as an example, Reuters deems solar panels as being emerging ‘enemy’ of firefighters everywhere.
Do solar panels use more energy than they generate?
In today’s round of fact or fiction, we take a look at solar panels.
Researchers develop self-healing solar cells
Dye-sensitized solar cells already have many potential advantages over silicon. Now they may heal themselves, too.
When you’re wearing a solar-powered bikini, you can spend the entire day at the beach grooving to your favorite tunes and never have to worry about your iPod battery dying. Andrew Schneider designed this swimwear with photovoltaic film panels and a USB connection as part of a student project.
